You probably have lots of questions...
Cheaper, more effective and greener? It all sounds too good to be true.
Tecqua is quite simply a revolutionary new technology that changes the old rules. Remember the first time you heard about
Skype, and how you could suddenly talk to anyone anywhere in the world for free? That's the power of revolutionary technology.
Tecqua is already being used successfully in Germany, United States, Switzerland, India, Turkey, Austria, Ukraine, Russia, Australia, New Zealand & Japan.
Tecqua is new to the UK. You simply haven't heard about it yet!
What are examples of Tecqua applications?
Existing customers include car manufacturers (rain/bug-repellant windscreens & headlights), fast food outlets (working surfaces coated to repel bacteria), historic sites (to preserve them for future generations), hospitals (to combat MRSA), food producers (to make rice fluffier), manufacturers (to lengthen storage times - especially outdoor storage), local government & facilities management companies (anti-graffiti/chewing gum for street furniture - paths, bus shelters, signage, traffic lights, bins, statues. And military applications (but we're not allowed to talk about those!)
What exactly does Tecqua contain?
Pure, safe, naturally-occuring, particle-free Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) - ‘pure glass’. The SiO2 is held in a liquid and does not become glass until it dries.
Tecqua is manufactured in Germany by
nanopool.
How does Tecqua work?
Tecqua is a nanotechnology glass coating 1/5000th the thickness of a human hair. It is a highly durable, flexible, super-smooth and super-phobic coating which repels oil, water, paint, dry soiling, and chemicals.
Coated surfaces repel soiling agents. Dry dirt will not stick to the coated surface and liquids are unable to penetrate the coating on surfaces as each filament of every fibre is protected with a Tecqua nanolayer of 'liquid glass'.
What is nanotechnology?
Nanotechnology is the control of matter at an atomic level. The term ‘nano’ comes from the Greek word meaning dwarf or small, and is now used in a precise scientific sense. Nano products refer to items or coatings which have dimensions that are measured in billionths of a metre.

Is Tecqua environmentally-friendly?
Absolutely. Tecqua is based on the Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) technology which won the 2007 Green Apple Award by
the Green Organisation.
Does a Tecqua coating change the appearance or texture of the treated surface?
No. Tecqua is invisible to the naked eye and does not alter the appearance or texture of any treated surface.
What are the benefits of Tecqua over existing systems?
It's significantly cheaper than chemical-based protective coatings and provides quick Return-On-Investment & pay-back periods.
Tecqua is up to 80% self-cleaning, which means that coated assets require less attention (ie. maintenace and cleaning costs). Most dirt and grime can be cleaned with water - no chemical cleaners needed.
It's non-chemical, so is safe to apply with no safety gear needed. The public are also safe during application and cleaning activities.
Can I apply Tecqua to any surface?
Yes – stone, brick, concrete, metals, glass, plastics, alloys, paint, wood and fabric. Tecqua bonds to all these surfaces via electrostatic force.
How it is Tecqua applied and maintained?
Tecqua can be applied by wiping over with a damp cloth or sprayed on. It does not need maintenance. If however the area in question is frequently attacked with graffiti or sand blasting, we recommend re-application after 15 graffiti attacks, or every 3 years of bad particularly bad weather attacks (particularly coastal locations).
Is there any danger of rot or corrosion?
Not on undamaged or new equipment. Old surfaces that are already physically or UV damaged will not benefit from Tecqua, as the damage will be 'trapped' under the coating. But why protect damaged goods?
Once coated, what should surfaces be cleaned with?
In the vast majority of occasions, water is sufficient (which means rainfall does most of the cleaning work). If your surface has been attacked by heavy graffiti or excessive dirt, we would recommend using our inexpensive non-chemical alcohol based cleaner to clean and rejuvenate the coating.
How should surfaces be cleaned before applying?
A good pre-clean is important. Any dirt or marks left on a surface that is coated will be permanent.
How much does Tecqua cost?
£10-£15 per applied square metre (which includes high quality pre-cleaning), depending upon the material to be coated and how easy access is.
Is it not cheaper to paint a wall or whatever with paint every 6 months?
In a word, no. Tecqua is inexpensive lasts for years. Plus it’s the greenest product of its type in the UK. No other protective coating offers self-cleaning, chemical-free and 100% environmentally-friendly properties.
Is it weather resistant on all surfaces?
Yes. And because of this, Tecqua’s anti-weathering properties make your assets last years longer than before.
What about Tecqua's anti-bacterial properties?
Bacteria are unable to develop on a Tecqua-coated surface. For example: A butcher’s table coated with Tecqua and wiped down with a wet cloth is more sterile than the same untreated table washed down with bleach.
How long does protection last?
Every environment is different as some living spaces encounter heavy usage whilst others encounter far less ‘wear and tear’. The treatments are all very durable and they will last for many years. We expect the hard surface coatings to last for at least 3 -15 years in most environments. This period may be longer in many instances.
Is Tecqua ‘food safe’?
Yes. Tecqua has been tested by independent agencies and is food safe.
Has Tecqua been dermatologically tested?
Yes. Tecqua has been subjected to dermatological testing, and is safe.
Who applies Tecqua?
We apply Tecqua for you. However if you are a large local authority or organisation, we can train and licence your technicians to apply Tecqua.
